In recent hours, 10 earthquakes and 21 aftershocks have been recorded, triggered by the activation of a western tectonic fault, according to the Venezuelan Foundation for Seismological Research (Funvisis).

“Fortunately, no human losses have been reported (…) President of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro, has been coordinating with all governors and mayors across the country,” Vice President Delcy Rodríguez said.

In response to the seismic activity, “President Nicolás Maduro has deployed the Civil Protection System nationwide, mobilized citizen security agencies, and our Bolivarian National Armed Forces. In addition, the Venezuelan people also have a Prevention and Risk Management System, which we are now activating,” she added.

The Vice President urged the population to remain alert to possible developments stemming from the activation of this western tectonic fault.
